We refer to the above-mentioned subject, and would like to inform you that all trademarks registered in Libya prior to the reopening of the Trademark Office in August 2002 are no longer valid. This situation has prompted many companies to register their trademarks after the re-opening of the Trademark Office and some cases of infringement have emerged. Moreover, the Libyan market started as an open market and many private companies have started importation and distribution of different products. In view of the above developments, we strongly advise our valuable clients to proceed with registration of their marks as early as possible so as to secure their protection in Libya.
