SummaryIn order to register an industrial design, an application must be made to the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office and the prescribed registration fee paid.
The application must contain:
1. A request for registration
2. Form of Authorisation of Agent (where the applicant employs an agent in Barbados)
3. Either a specimen of the article or a photograph or graphic representation of the industrial design.
4. An indication of the kind of product with which the industrial design is to be used and,
5. An indication of the classes of products to which the industrial design relates.
NB. As many as 50 industrial designs may be registered under the legislation.
Registration is for 5 years and can be renewed for a further two (2) consecutive periods of five (5) years each. |
