Summary

The POA and the assignment document should be submitted in a term of 60 days from the filing date and it should be paid an additional tax for filing them. The certified copy of priority should be filed 90 days from filing date without any cost.

Usually the Cuban examiner issues one or two official actions during the examination. The Official Action should be answered in two moths counted from the notification date. The period between the application is filed an the Office's final decision is not predictable. However, according to our experience the average term of examination is one year.

The industrial design is in force for 5 years counted from the filing date. An extension should be obtained for 5 years more if it the industrial design is renewed on time. The date of renewal can be sixth months before due date or sixth months after, paying a surcharge (grace period).

* Name and address of the applicant

* Name and address of the inventor(s)

* Description of the model/models

* Three copies of the blueprints

* Power of attorney signed by the applicant (no legalization is required)

* Assignment document (if the applicant is not the inventor) (no legalization is required)

* A certified copy of priority document (if the priority rights are claimed)
